One suspect in custody following stabbing in City Centre

Surrey RCMP is currently on scene following a report of a stabbing incident in the City Centre area of Surrey.
On September 14th at approximately 1:50pm, Surrey RCMP received a call regarding an assault with a weapon in the area of 135A Street and 108th Avenue. Upon police attendance, officers located a possible suspect fleeing the scene who was quickly arrested and taken into custody. The victim was located nearby and was transported to local area hospital in critical condition. A second victim was also located nearby with serious but non-life threatening injuries, however, it is unknown if this incident is related.
The investigation is still in its early stages, however, officers are canvassing the neighbourhood and speaking to several witnesses to obtain further information. The Surrey RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit and the Lower Mainland District’s Integrated Forensic Identification Unit and Police Dog Services have all been engaged.
Road closures are in effect in both directions on 108th Avenue from City Parkway to King George Boulevard and northbound in the 10700 block of 135A Avenue for an undetermined amount of time.
