Surrey RCMP is currently on scene at a residence in the Newton area for a report of an assault.
On July 19th at approximately 11:45am, Surrey RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence in the 6600 block of 124A Street. Upon arrival, officers determined that an altercation had occurred between two occupants of the home and two suspects who attempted to enter the residence. The altercation continued onto the street where neighbours attempted to intervene. One male suspect fled to a nearby vehicle while the other male suspect was held by neighbours for police.
The two occupants of the home were transported to local hospital as a precaution due to minor injuries. The one suspect was taken into custody and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Unit has conduct of this investigation. Officers continue to gather evidence and information to determine exactly what transpired. The investigation is still in its infancy, however, early indications are that this is a targeted incident.
Police are still looking for the suspect vehicle which is only described as a black Honda Accord. A description of the second suspect is unavailable at this time.
