File # 2016-95734

At approximately 2:40 p.m. today, Surrey RCMP was advised by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) about a vehicle that had failed to report at the Pacific Highway border crossing northbound. The suspect in the vehicle had been allegedly in possession of a firearm.

The vehicle was followed by Surrey RCMP in South Surrey. The suspect continued to drive south on 176th Street and then headed towards the same border crossing. The vehicle was ultimately stopped just inside the United States and the suspect, a United States citizen, was taken into custody without incident by United States Customs and Border Protection.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

Road closures are currently in effect along 192nd Street between 16th Avenue and 24th Avenue.
The Surrey RCMP is leading this investigation, in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency and the US Customs and Border Protection (US CBP).
