File # 2016-71041

On Saturday, May 21st at approximately 9:20am, Surrey RCMP received several 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 60th Avenue and King George Boulevard.

A dark coloured Chrysler sedan struck a light standard in this area, which fell and landed on top of the vehicle, crushing part of the vehicle’s roof in. The vehicle then managed to strike another vehicle before driving away eastbound on 60th Avenue. Several additional calls reported the badly damaged vehicle driving without a possible front tire and spraying sparks as it drove. The vehicle was eventually located by officers in an alley near the intersection of 138A and 60th Avenue. The driver was taken into custody. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision. The matter is still under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or observed the vehicle driving either before or after the collision, is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
