Police respond to suspicious occurrence at night

Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating reports of a potential explosion at a residence in Maple Ridge that took place in the middle of the night.

On November 22, 2023, at approximately 1:55 a.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP General Duty officers responded to multiple reports of a loud bang at a residence in the 12100 block of 228 Street in Maple Ridge. Operating with extreme caution, General Duty officers set up a large perimeter to secure the scene. All occupants of the residence were safely evacuated. The residence is well known to police.

Ridge Meadows Serious Crimes Unit (SCU), Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS) and the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) all attended the scene to assist with the investigation. EDU has been engaged to help determine the cause of the potential explosion. SCU has conduct of the investigation.

Several people were detained and one person suffered minor injuries but was not taken to hospital.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information Is available at this time.
