Coquitlam RCMP would like to thank Tri-Cities residents who, in spite of cold temperatures and rain, went beyond our brightest fundraising expectations for a community shredding event.

The event was hosted on Saturday, March 18, 2017, by a Coquitlam RCMP team including Auxiliary Constables and volunteers. Silver Bullet Shredding provided the shredding truck, the Better Business Bureau gave tips on document safety and SHARE Family & Community Services collected donations.

Based on past shredding events, we expected to raise about $500, said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with the Coquitlam RCMP, but our community just blew that away.

It went really well, said Michelle Murray with SHARE, the cash totals were $1,446.15 and food totals 396 pounds (180kgs).

We had a steady flow of traffic throughout the morning, said Bailey Jung with Silver Bullet, I regularly saw individuals donating $20 just for dropping off a single box. There were quite a few $50s as well so people were more than happy to support the cause.

The Coquitlam RCMP is particularly grateful for the contribution of our volunteers and Auxiliaries. Without them, this event could not have been so successful.
