Burnaby RCMP is hoping the public can help find the rightful owner of a set of World War II military service medals that were found during an unrelated investigation.

It is believed that these medals were issued to Canadian military who served in Europe during World War II. We feel the medals could be family heirlooms and are reaching out to the public to assist us in returning them to those families, said Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Corporal Daniela Panesar.

Police are asking that anyone with further information about the medals to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922.
