Burnaby RCMP is investigating a suspicious incident after an 11-year-old girl was approached by a male shortly after 3 p.m. on January 23rd in the area of Piper Avenue. The man attempted to speak to the girl but she ran away and returned to her school to tell the school principal and call police. The suspect is described as:

Police cannot confirm the intentions of the man, however, as a precautionary measure, we would like the public to be aware of the incident. Parents should always be vigilant about their child’s safety, says Corporal Daniela Panesar, and this is a good opportunity for parents to talk to kids about being safe.

No other incidences of a similar nature have been reported to police.

Police would like to speak to anyone that may have witnessed this incident or know anything about the alleged suspect. Please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-294-7922 or if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477 (TIPS).
