Barricaded male apprehended safely

On November 28, 2017, at approximately 11:00 p.m. the Burnaby RCMP responded to a residence in the 7000-block of 21st Street for a report of a suspicious male with a firearm. Upon police arrival the suspect male refused to exit the residence and would not comply with police demands.

Out of concern for police and public safety, the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team and a negotiator were called to attend and nearby residents were evacuated. After a lengthy negotiation, a 22-year-old male was arrested at approximately 8 a.m. this morning and is now in RCMP custody.
