Burnaby RCMP and IHIT investigate homicide

On February 23rd, just after 1 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP attended the 7900-block of 18th Avenue after receiving a report of a female requiring medical attention. Upon police attendance, a 45-year-old female victim was found deceased in the residence. A 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene shortly after police arrived.

The information that is available to investigators at this time is limited however it is believed this was not a random act.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
