Law Enforcement Torch Run to Support Special Olympics

The Prince George RCMP will once again be organizing and participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run to support Special Olympics British Columbia.

The 3.5 kilometre walk or run event will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday June 6th in Prince George. This is a fun event to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympic athletes in our province, and specifically in the Prince George area. The event is primarily made up of members, staff & family of various public safety agencies including the BC Sheriffs Service, Prince George Fire / Rescue and the Prince George Detachment of the RCMP.

Following the run at about 4:30 PM, the RCMP will host a public bar-b-que, social gathering and 50/50 raffle on 5th Avenue next to the Detachment. All are welcome to attend.

Event: Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics British Columbia
When: Tuesday June 6th, 2017 beginning at 4:00 PM (please arrive by 3:30)
Where: Beginning and ending at the Prince George RCMP Detachment located at 455 Victoria Street, Prince George.

We are very happy to help raise money to support these local athletes says Cpl. Craig Douglass, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP. Their dedication and effort into their respective sports is inspiring. The generosity of this community is equally inspiring, so we are confident that this will be a successful event.

The Prince George RCMP and our partners are very appreciative of local businesses that have supported this event through donations.

The one block portion of 5th Avenue between Victoria Street and Vancouver Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the day of the event.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an innovative initiative powered by dedicated law enforcement members around the world who want to help Special Olympics athletes experience acceptance, achievement, and admiration through sport.
