File # 2017-68118

RCMP are investigating after thieves allegedly stole several thousand ounces of precious metals and cash from a West Kelowna storage locker.

On November 12, 2017 police were called to the scene of a reported break and enter to a storage unit, within a storage facility in the industrial area of West Kelowna. The renter had been contacted by an alarm company on November 10th, regarding an alarm activation to his storage unit. However he was unable to immediately attend to check on his personal possessions.

Police have learned that over 5,000 ounces of silver and gold, in various forms including coins and bars, along with cash and a rare acrylic sculpture titled Eye of the Flame, was taken from within the storage unit, says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. Our complainant was understandably distraught over the theft, which totalled in excess of $150,000 in loss.

The RCMP investigation is ongoing at this time.
