Emergency Response Team

- In response to rising violent crime in 2006, the Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service phased in a full-time 67-member ERT team to support front-line police officers in the LMD’s 13 detachments.

Police Dog Service

- The LMD Police Dog Service (PDS) is the largest in the country with 44 police-dog teams. Forty-one of the teams are from the RCMP and three are from the Abbotsford Police Department.

B.C. Lower Mainland District, Traffic Services- Cst. Adam Carmichael of Richmond detachment is a proud member of Alexa’s Team – a group of police officers dedicated to getting impaired drive’s off our roads. He received a certificate from a Leah Wilson, a grade two student at Southridge School in Surrey, who would have been a classmate of Alexa Middelaer, a young girl killed by an impaired driver in 2008. More than 90 police officers in the Lower Mainland were made proud members of Alexa’s Team recently, to honour their work in removing impaired drivers from our roads.
